THE INFLUENCE OF A MIND-BINDING SPIRIT

Have you ever been obsessed with thoughts of jumping out of a moving car, jumping from a high rise building, cutting your wrist with a sharp object, suffocating a child with a pillow, drowning a child in a bathtub, jumping from a bridge, raping a woman, killing yourself and others around you etc? If yes, you may be under the influence of a mind-binding spirit.

And the Lord said, ‘who will entice Ahab into attacking Ramoth Gillead and going to his death there?’ “One suggested this, and another that.” Finally, a spirit came forward, stood before the LORD and said, ‘I will entice him.’ “By what means?’ the LORD asked. “ ‘I will go out and be a deceiving spirit in the mouths of all his prophets,’ he said.

1 Kings 22:20-22

The Scriptures above do not in any way suggest that the spirit came from the Lord. The Bible says, “And the spirit came forward.” In those days the devil and his spirits had access to God’s presence. The same thing occurred in the time of Job. When the holy angels presented themselves to God, the devil also came.

The deceiving spirit mentioned here is also known as the lying spirit. The principle I want to bring out is that if a spirit could cause men to lie, then an evil spirit can cause men to commit rape, suicide, murder, theft etc. This mind-binding spirit is also responsible for fear, hate, jealousy etc.

An evil spirit can take possession of a person’s mind, will and emotions. An evil spirit can oppress his victim with obsessive thoughts to the extent that the person is no more in control of his mind. At this point his victim’s mind, will and emotions have been hijacked by this powerful invisible being for torture, expression and control.

Once the victim of an evil spirit loses control of his will, he may never be able to control his feelings until the act is done. He is under an impulse, a strong desire or urge to do evil. I think it is important to note here that this does not happen to just anyone – the person must in the past have opened himself up to the influence of the devil, given the devil the right to have control of his life.

SEVEN SIGNS YOU ARE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF A MIND-BINDING SPIRIT

1. If you constantly hear unfamiliar voices from unknown sources urging you to do evil.

2. If your mind is overwhelmed with obsessive and crime related thoughts.

3. If you experience an impelling force that defies any act of resistance pushing you to do evil.

4. When an uncontrollable urge that overruns reason takes over your emotions.

5. If there is always an expression of sudden impulse to do evil when you are alone.

6. Constant flashes of unwholesome images and scenes in your mind.

7. If you have nightmares related to your obsessions. Dreams sometimes are the reflection of one’s thoughts and inward struggles.

And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name (Jesus Christ) they will drive out demons…..
